Alongside the Atlantic coast, a soon-to-be-inaugurated futuristic tower looms over a suburb of Dakar. Ada, 17, is in love with Souleiman, a younger development employee. However she has been promised to a different man. One evening, Souleiman and his co-workers go away the nation by sea, in hope of a greater future. A number of days later, a fireplace ruins Ada’s marriage ceremony and a mysterious fever begins to unfold. Little does Ada know that Souleiman has returned.
